SoroSoke Brands is Nigeria’s boldest marketing and brand strategy editorial platform. We exist for one reason: to say what Nigerian marketing discourse is too polite, too cautious, or too conflicted to say.

We cover campaigns, brand strategy, advertising industry intelligence, and the culture that shapes how Nigerian brands communicate. We analyse what worked, name what didn’t, and ask the questions that trade publications avoid because the brands they cover are also the brands that advertise with them.

SoroSoke Brands does not have that problem. We are independent. Our editorial positions are our own.

Why SoroSoke Brands Exists

Nigerian marketing is one of the most sophisticated on the continent. The talent is real. The creativity is exceptional. The cultural intelligence that Nigerian brand practitioners bring to their work is world-class by any honest measure.

And yet the industry’s self-examination has always been too gentle. Trade publications celebrate industry events without interrogating them. Award ceremonies applaud campaigns without asking whether they moved business outcomes. Campaign coverage repeats press releases without asking whether the strategy made sense. The people doing the best work in Nigerian marketing have always deserved a platform that matched their standard — one that leads the conversation instead of following it.

That platform is SoroSoke Brands.

What We Cover

SoroSoke Brands publishes across five editorial categories:

Campaign Breakdown — Deep analysis of Nigerian brand campaigns. What the brief was, what the execution delivered, what worked, and what the industry should learn from it. We cover campaigns that deserve celebration and campaigns that deserve examination. Sometimes both.

Brand Blunders & Marketing Misfires — Honest post-mortems on campaigns that went wrong, brand strategies that missed the moment, and marketing decisions that cost companies more than their agencies will admit. We name the pattern, not just the incident.

Trend Reports & Data — Intelligence from the Nigerian marketing landscape. Media spend data, consumer behaviour shifts, industry reports decoded, and the market movements that brand managers need to know before they build their next brief.

The Culture Deck — Where Nigerian brand strategy meets Nigerian culture. Afrobeats, Nollywood, social media, youth culture, and the cultural currents that smart brands are tracking and most brands are missing.

Interviews & Spotlights — Profiles of the Nigerian marketing practitioners who are doing significant work — not just the loudest voices on LinkedIn, but the people building brands, running large marketing operations, and earning recognition that the industry too often overlooks.

Our Editorial Standards

SoroSoke Brands holds itself to three standards that we apply to every piece of content we publish.

We lead. SoroSoke Brands does not republish what others have already said. We find the angle that has not been taken, the data point that has not been interrogated, the story that is sitting in plain sight waiting for someone willing to write it. If you read something on SoroSoke Brands and then find it repeated elsewhere, you were reading it here first.

We are specific. Generic marketing commentary is the most abundant and least useful thing on the Nigerian internet. SoroSoke Brands does not write about “the importance of brand consistency” or “why storytelling matters.” We write about specific brands, specific campaigns, specific decisions, and what they reveal about Nigerian marketing at this moment.

We are honest. We do not soften analysis to protect advertiser relationships. We do not celebrate campaigns that do not deserve celebration. We do not review frameworks without asking whether they are actually used. The brands and practitioners that appear in our coverage receive the same standard of scrutiny regardless of whether they advertise with us.

Who We Are For

SoroSoke Brands is built for Nigerian marketing professionals — the brand managers, CMOs, agency creatives, strategists, media buyers, and marketing directors who are doing the actual work of building Nigerian brands. We write for the person who already knows the basics and wants the deeper analysis that nobody else is publishing.

We are also for founders, business leaders, and entrepreneurs who understand that brand strategy is not a department — it is a competitive advantage. And for anyone, inside or outside marketing, who is genuinely curious about how Nigerian brands communicate, why some of them win, and what the ones that lose got wrong.

Founded By

SoroSoke Brands was founded by Choice Arukwe — marketing strategist, brand consultant, and one of Nigeria’s most experienced practitioners in FMCG and automotive brand management.

Choice’s career spans senior marketing roles at Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing, TummyTummy Instant Noodles, and ilumin8 Movies, as well as the founding of multiple brand and media ventures. He created SoroSoke Brands because Nigerian marketing deserved a publication built by someone who has actually done the work — not just written about it.

SoroSoke Brands is also the parent platform for Marketing with Choice, Choice Arukwe’s video platform and personal brand bringing marketing intelligence to practitioners across Nigeria.
